Religious Emblem class for Scouts in 1st - 3rd grades

Posted on May 16 2012 - 5:21pm
Pack 623 will offer the Religious Emblem program (for Protestant and Independant Christian Churches) for Scouts in grades 1 - 3 (current Tigers through Bears). The program consisits of six meetings (each meeting will be 1 1/2 hours and will begin at 1 pm) on the following Thursdays: May 24, May 31, June 7, June 21, July 5 and July 12. If your son will miss a lesson, it can be made up at home (we realize that some families may be on vacation on some of the class dates). Meetings will be held at Jill Nogle's home (95 Stardance Drive in Painted Trails) and parents are invited (but not required) to attend with their Scout. No siblings, please.

The cost for this program is $25, and includes registration, student workbook and all associated activity costs, parent workbook, emblem (to be worn on the Scout's uniform)  & certificate. Please register your scout on this website (payment can be made at the first meeting) so we know how many workbooks are needed before the first class. Contact Jill at pack623@att.net or call 837-7611 with any questions. If you have a Webelos scout and are interested in working with him on the Religious Emblem program for Cub Scouts in grades 4 and up, please contact Jill for more information,

OC Bird of Prey Sponsorship

Posted on May 16 2012 - 5:06pm

Those who attended our May Pack meeting enjoyed meeting and learning about several species of birds of prey (including owls, falcons & hawks) thanks to the non-profit Orange County Bird of Prey Center. The center (which is located just up the road at Rancho Las Lomas), has a program where you can sponsor an injured wild bird as it is rehabilitated to be returned to the wild. Your donation will help provide medical care and food, and you may participate in the release of your sponsored bird! Or, you can sponsor one of the birds who is non-releasable (like those we met at our Pack meeting) to help provide for their on-going care. In either case, a certificate will be mailed to you denoting the bird sponsored. This is an awesome program for families or as a den conservation project! Attached is the sponsorship form with more information about the program.
